A dramatic plane crash in early August this year, has not stopped Lawn Bowlers Robyn and Scott Beaumont from having a roll this week at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.
The pair were holidaying in Africa when their four seater, single engine Cessna crashed in Zimbabwe due to engine failure.
Scott only suffered minor injuries however Robyn, who was in the co-pilot seat, took the impact through her shoulder.
But Robyn is not letting shoulder pain get in the way of her third Masters games.
Robyn said preparation was hard for the games as she needed physio sessions for the last eight weeks to regain arm strength.
“I’m not in peak condition,” she said.
The Beaumonts’ team dubbed ‘The Green Machine’ had won gold and bronze in varying lawn bowls rounds this week.
Their team includes De Brown and Tony Parsons, who they met through previous competitions.
“We really enjoy the atmosphere in Southport, you know more people every year,” Robyn said.
Robyn started lawn bowling after Scott registered them in the 2010 Masters games, even though Robyn had not played before.
”I said, well I better learn how to play,” she recalled.
‘The Green Machine’ will be playing 15 games this week.
