The vision to expand dragon boats in areas west of Brisbane propelled Twin Lakes to commence their first regatta at the 2014 Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.

The newly established Twin Lakes team represents members from Lakers Lakes District Dragon Boat Association, Lake Dywer Dragon Boat Club and the Te Waka Dragons.

President of the Lakers Lakes District Dragon Boat Association Paul Taylor said he was eager to unite the three clubs to help expand dragon boats in western regions.

“We have combined together to try and get something happening for the western regions as there are  a number of new clubs and established clubs further out west,” Taylor said.

“I am trying to start a regional competition for the western districts where the finalist can then compete against the finalist of the other regions at the end of the year.

“We (Lakers) initially teamed up with Lake Dyer as they only joined the sport this year. We needed coaching and a sweep and that is when the assistant coach of the Te Waka Dragons, Joe Martin became involved.”

Joe Martin was happy to share his coaching knowledge and members of his experienced Te Waka Dragons were eager to unite with the novice team.

“The Te Waka Dragons have competed in every major event in Australia, including the Australian Nationals and Queensland State Titles, and have just returned from the World Championships in Italy where we medalled,” Martin explained.

“We had two training sessions together when I got back from Italy and that was it.

“Now we are here and performing quite well considering it is our first competition together and first ever regatta for some of the team.

“They are all enjoying there time at these games and are already discussing entering everything they can in the future, including the 2016 Club Crew World Championships in Adelaide.”

The new system was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not significant for us.
