swaggies

Sunday 9th November

The final day of the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games saw some fierce competition at the dragon boat events at Lake Orr.

The morning began with several close races that saw the winners decided in the final five metres of the race, which gave the vocal crowd something to cheer about.

One group that stood out in the crowd were the Swaggies ladies in their florescent yellow shirts. Narelle Minett and some of her team mates were braving the scorching sun to cheer on their team mates from the riverbank.

With over 800 competitors at the dragon boat event, the Swaggies use their fluro uniforms to spot each other in the crowd.

“Because Swaggies is a mixture of clubs we just all come together and it stands out,” said Narelle.

“Some of the team went over to Wellington to compete with the shirts so we thought we would use them for the Masters Games.

The team also has a war cry which helps them unite and lift their spirits before each race.

“We have a great war cry its ‘swaggy swaggy swaggy oi oi oi’… which went down really well in New Zealand.”

Swaggies have entered several boats in the competition with members coming together to compete from various clubs across northern New South Wales.

“We’ve got masters and grand masters A, B and C.”

“We’re only competing for the two days but it’s been really good.”

The ladies only disappointment was not being able to fully partake in last nights entertainment at the closing ceremony as they were mindful they still had work to do on the water today.

“We went for two hours last night but we just wanted to party on.”

The new scheme was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not significant for us.
