The Sri Lankan Masters basketball teams have returned to the Gold Coast vying for a coveted Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games gold medal.

Team member Tuan Murah Amath said Sri Lanka had performed well in basketball at the previous Master Games and hoped to better their result in 2014.

“Our men’s 35+ and 40+ teams won silver medals in 2012, so hopefully this time both teams can win gold,” Marth said.

The Sri Lankan Masters have been participating in basketball at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games since 2000.

Team member Dimitiri Ramaneshwara said it was the love for the sport that had kept the competitors returning.

“We love playing and we want to promote the game to encourage more people to get involved,” Ramaneshwara said.

“We take lots of photos and videos and share them on our Facebook page.

“We get a good response so hopefully next time we can bring three or four teams to Australia.

“The entertainment here is fantastic, they can meet new people and see how basketball is played here compared to there.”
