The Lockyer Equestrian Group (LEGs), were hot to trot at Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters inaugural dressage competition today.

Proving that age is merely a number, LEGs members Ellen Osmond (71) and Lyn Roberton (67) were proud to claim their medals and party hard at the Mudgeeraba showgrounds.

“It’s been fabulous,” Ellen said.

“We’ve been having an absolute ball.”

Ellen won both gold and bronze in her divisions, with her horse of four years, Fancy That, whilst Lyn claimed a silver and bronze.

“It’s been good competition, and the sense of community has been wonderful,” Ellen said.

Mudgeeraba Pony and Hack Club President Kate Taylor said that the event has been enjoyable for all.

“It’s a real party atmosphere,” Kate said.

“By the end of today; you’ll see competitors with a wine in one hand, a carrot in the other and a medal around their neck.”

The relaxed nature of the competition has opened the field to many, with long time dressage competitors getting back on the horse.

“There are people here competing today who haven’t had white jodhpurs on for 30 years,” Kate said.

“The atmosphere is so welcoming, anyone can ride.”
