Shanghai Swimstars Club

Pan Pacific Masters Games CEO Cameron Hart greets members of the Shanghai Swimstars Sports Club who are on the Gold Coast to participate in the games.

25 members of the Shanghai Swimstars Sports Club are on the Gold Coast participating in the Pan Pacific Masters Games swimming competition at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and the ocean swim at Mermaid Beach.

They have travelled from Shanghai to the Gold Coast and Brisbane and have been very impressed with the ease of travel and the size and quality of the Pan Pacific Masters Games.

The group is visiting aquatic centres in the region with the view of finding a location for future swim camps and cultural exchanges.

Friends and family in China have easily been able to follow the club’s adventures on social media due to the Gold Coast and China being on similar time zones.

One swimmer in the squad is team leader Zhou Chuan-Zhu who boasts a formidable record in the pool in the lead up to this event. In addition to her gold in the 100m breaststroke at the 2018 China Swimming Championships of National Clubs, she won gold in 50m and 100m breaststroke at the 2016 and 2017 China Swimming Championship of National Clubs.

The squad are also including Japan, Malaysia and Hungary in their travel plans for international competition and cultural experiences.

Mr Le (Leo) Gang, General Manager of the Shanghai Swimstars Sports Club, Pan Pacific Masters Games CEO Cameron Hart and swimmer Zhou Chuan-Zhu.
