Colin Metcher, 78, has been involved in Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games (JPPMG) motorsport events since 2002.
Firstly he competed in the motocross category when it was introduced in 2002 and now finds himself competing in the enduro and vinduro event.
The motorcycle enthusiast today teamed up with his two sons, Peter, 51 and Simon, 31 to form the first-ever family team.
Despite the blistering heat at the Pimpama track, Colin said he was taking it all in as it might be his last appearance.
“I have ridden in all the (JPPMG) games since it (motocross) begun,” Colin said.
“Along with Alan Bressan I have also been involved in the organisation of the event since day one.”
The enduro event features teams of two, three or four in either the ‘Up to 250cc’ or ‘Over 250cc’ categories in a timed team challenge. The vinduro race is categorised in to Classic (Pre’78), Post Classic (Pre’90), Post Classic (Pre’85) and Evolution.
Colin also competed in the sailing event at the masters games last weekend at the Paradise Point Sailing Club and said it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
“I finished with gold, which was really good, however I also finished with a black eye,” Colin said.
The 10th biennial Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games is being held 5 – 13 November 2016 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
The event showcases competition in 43 sports and is hosting 13,000 participants from Queensland, interstate and overseas.
