Enduro and Vinduro convenor Alan Bressan rode into day one of competition at Pimpama today with years of experience on his side.

Alan is one of the original competitors in the event, joining back in 2004 for his first Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.

When Alan first took part in the event it was in the motocross category, however the category has changed since.

“Once the Reedy Creek track closed we had to look at a new location and a new style of race,” Alan said.

“We tried a number of races from the flat track to the enduro, which was the most popular.”

After the enduro category begun in 2008, the event enjoyed a lot of success and in 2010 a new category of race, the vinduro was introduced.

The vinduro race sees competitors ride a range of classical bikes from the late 1970s to a more modern style in the Evolution category.

Alan has been riding since he was 13 and said the masters games was one of the best bike events on the Gold Coast.

“I go over to America for the Redbull Day in the Dirt every year, which costs an arm and a leg, so something in our own backyard is really good,” Alan said.

“Everyone’s our age and if you fall people stop to help you up as where the younger more competitive races people will just use you as a jump.

“There’s not much on the Gold Coast for bikes so it’s a really fun, social event for everyone.”

The worlds biggest and best biennial masters games showcases competition in 43 team and individual sports and attracts more than 13,000 participants from Queensland, interstate and overseas.
