Guam’s baseball team is back again and this time competing in the over 50’s division for Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.
After claiming silver in 2012 the team are ready to take home the gold medal.
Guam’s masters President David Quitugua said the team has been together since 2006, with only a few new recruits in that time.
“We’ve been together since we were in the 45 age division,” he said.
“We enjoy the company of the other teams, as we have grown together.”
The team faced a minor set back as two players had to drop out due to family emergencies.
“We hope that doesn’t hurt us too much as they were key players,” he said
Quitugua said the team trains twice a week but rain had been a hazard in preparation.
“Guam masters ended in August so we payed golf for a while and had a vacation, before training again,” he said.
Fundraising is essential for the team as each participant has to pay at least $3000 to cover personal costs.
Quitugua said the team had been fundraising for over five months to make the trip.
Several of the wives have never been to Australia so this has added extra excitement to the teams’ trip.
“Our wives are great to have here, great to have good company as well as the other players,” he said.
The Guam team will host a traditional welcome barbeque on Monday for their competitors and the baseball coordinating team.
The new scheme was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not momentous for us.
