Entries open today for the 13th edition of the Pan Pacific Masters Games (PPMG) with more than 20,000 participants and their supporters expected to descend on the Gold Coast from 1-10 November 2024.

Best known for an atmosphere of friendliness and fun, the event will see long time master’s mates and a whole swag of new participants to the games gather in the city to contest one or more of the 42 sports on offer.

Events Management Queensland CEO, Ben Mannion said they were well and truly prepared for a barrage of entries in the first few weeks with convenors across many sports indicating they had participants champing at the bit to lock their entry in.

“This is an event that many participants come back to year after year, it’s where legends of all ages come to play and where they meet up with new friends and old and enjoy fierce but friendly competition.

“We anticipate entries from every state and territory and more than 30 countries with the event well known for delivering a highly professional competition, contested at world class venues and complemented by fantastic entertainment in a dedicated Games Village.

City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has put his hand up to compete in the games newest sport and the inaugural powerlifting competition.

“The Pan Pacific Masters Games is an iconic event on the Gold Coast with an atmosphere like no other sporting event.

“It’s always great to see the master’s athletes walking around the city in their team uniforms, enjoying the restaurants and visitor experiences we have to offer when they’re not competing at one of our international standard venues.

“I’ll put in a bit of training before the event and hopefully I can win one of the coveted medals in my age group,” Mayor Tate said.

There are no qualifying standards to compete in PPMG. To enter participants must reach the minimum age for their chosen sport which for most sports is 30+, however athletes as young as 118 and as experienced as 90+ years will be competing.

Entries for the PPMG open today – Friday 1 March 2024.

PPMG is organised by Events Management Queensland and is proudly supported by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, and features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
