Wednesday 10 September
Last week, due to a record-breaking number of participants having entered the 2014 Pan Pacific Masters Games, we decided to celebrate the milestone by extending the early bird fee deadline to 11:59pm (AEST) Wednesday 10 September.
More than 10,500 masters-aged athletes have confirmed their entry for the premier multi-sport event with more than 12,500 expected to enter before the commencement of the games on Saturday 1 November.
If you are undecided on whether you’re going to participate in what is shaping up to be the biggest Pan Pacific Masters Games in history, we’ve put together nine reasons why you should enter before the early bird fees close tonight.

We have a massive entertainment program that will have you dancing and soaking up the party atmosphere every night at the Games Village. The line-up is headlined by none other than one of Australia’s most iconic musicians, Ian Moss, who will blast through a set of classics from his solo and Cold Chisel back catalogues. In addition, we have Absolutely 80s featuring Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men), Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera), Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen) and Ally Fowler (The Chantoozies), taking you back to the 1980s and ripping into dozens of the biggest Australian pop hits. Get to know your entertainers with our bios and video clips. Also, stay tuned, as we have more bands to announce very soon!
The Gold Coast is home to some of the most outstanding sporting facilities in Australia and many sports at this year’s Pan Pacific Masters Games will be utilising them. We’re thrilled to be given access to the redeveloped Gold Coast Aquatic Centre this year which will host water polo, swimming and diving. This venue recently hosted the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships and will also be an integral 2018 Commonwealth Games venue. Other venues include the award-winning Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, the City of Gold Coast Athletics Track which is home to some of our Olympic and Commonwealth Games representatives, the stunning Currumbin Creek which will host the open water swimming as well as some of the most beautiful areas in the Gold Coast Hinterland for events such as archery and cross country. The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is Australia’s largest regional convention centre and is the location of the Games Village for the Pan Pacific Masters Games. Located in the heart of Broadbeach, the Games Village is situated close to accommodation, shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars and the beach. The Games Village includes the Check In Centre, Sport & Leisure Expo, entertainment, merchandise, food drinks + more.
Up to 200 volunteers will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the event and the enjoyment of participants at this year’s Pan Pacific Masters Games. Our volunteers will play a major part at the Games Village and Check In Centre at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre where you will be collecting your registration kit. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to approach our friendly volunteers. They are experienced and love the event as much as you do! Read more information about our volunteers.
We recently made the exciting announcement of Cancer Council Queensland as the official charity of this year’s event. The partnership presents an opportunity to encourage more than 12,000 masters-aged athletes, supporters and officials to raise awareness and donations to Queensland’s leading non-government community organisation in cancer control. The charity promotes regular physical activity as a means of lowering the risk of cancer and our athletes are the ideal candidates to promote the message to others. If you wish to do so, you can make a direct donation to the Cancer Council Queensland.
The Pan Pacific Masters Games, which first began in 1998, has grown to become such an integral event on the biennial sporting calendar for the Gold Coast, Queensland and Australia. The previous edition attracted 12,259 athletes and their supporters with more than half coming from interstate and overseas resulting in a massive boost for Queensland in both the tourism and sport industries. It has cemented its position as Australia’s premier multi-sport event and is currently on par in terms of participation levels with some of the biggest sporting occasions in the world such as the Summer Olympic Games.
