Western Australian Ryan Whiddett is swimming at his seventh masters series meet this week at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast.
This week’s Masters Games is the eighth event in the newly established Masters Swim Series that incorporates meets all over Australia in 2014.
Whiddett could not attend all eight meets as two were scheduled on the same day in August.
“I’ve done all the ones that I can,” Ryan said.
Whiddett said the Masters Series gave him more motivation to compete and train.
“A bit of fun, it’s a nice excuse to travel the country,” he said.
Whiddett is competing in breaststroke and freestyle this week.
“Some of the older guys give you a run for your money,” he said.
“I’m here to have fun and break a few times.
“If I beat one time I’ll be happy.”
The 22-year-old is Club President and a Coach of the One Club at Kwinana Swimming Club.
The One Club combines both masters swimmers with youth training.
