The 2022 Pan Pacific Masters Games are here…finally!

Over the coming 10 days over 13,000 participants in 42 sports and their 20,000 supporters will descend on the city for the first time since 2018, including coronavirus disruptions in 2020 and 2021.

Events Management Queensland CEO Cam Hart says all is in readiness with strong support across all sports.

“Everyone’s just champing at the bit to be a part of Australia’s largest Masters Games once again,” Mr Hart said ahead of Friday’s start of competition.

“We have several new sports and disciplines this year including walking netball, walking football, water polo, pickleball and interest is already at an all-time high.

“And we’re really excited that we have our own purpose-built Games Village at Broadbeach where everyone can wind down and enjoy some legendary Aussie music acts over five huge nights,” he said.

Mr Hart said the 2022 Games already boast some impressive numbers.

“On top of the 13,000 entrants, the 42 sports will operate out of over 40 venues with the assistance of over 500 volunteers in registration, sport administration, technical support, timekeeping, athlete information and in medical areas.

“And with so many visitors from outside the Gold Coast, every one of our volunteers, as they’ve done so ably in the past, becomes an ambassador for the city and one of its premier major events,” he said.
