The endurance motorcycle and vintage endurance motorcycle races will turn the ignition off on competition today at Pimpama on the northern Gold Coast.
Better known as enduro & vinduro this style of motocross is the fastest growing motorcycle movement in Australia, and has over 130 participants across the three days of Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters competition.
It has been a long, hot and very dusty event that has seen more than one rider have to pull out due to mechanical failure or broken body bits. It is a sport that is tough on both man and machine.
73–year-old veteran Colin Metcher has been riding these events and motocross in general for more than 50 years and has been involved in the motorcycle events at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games for 14 years.
“It is great to have an event of this nature here on the Gold Coast,” explained Metcher.
“Many of these guys just don’t get the opportunity to ride a vinduro often.
“Everyone has said the same thing, why does this only happen every two years?
“This is my last year, my body just won’t keep holding up to this level, so I’m glad I could ride in this one last Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.”
Stalwart of Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games motorcycle events, Alan Bressan explained how tough this weekend’s conditions have been for the participants.
“You have to ride to these conditions. There has been very little rain so the entire track is kicking up dust like it’s the desert,” complained Bressan.
“You have to suck in as much air and as much water as your body will take, which is hard when you are pitting yourself against the bush.
“Trees don’t give in, so you’re dodging them through clouds of dust and low visibility. It’s been a tough weekend all round.”
Enduro & vinduro will present their medals this afternoon with competition winding up at 5pm today.
The new system was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not significant for us.
