Vietnam veteran and Commonwealth Games boxer, Stephen Glover has had an interesting life.
Today he is on the Gold Coast competing in the clay target shooting at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games (JPPMG) in the 65-69 yearss men’s skeet competition.
Hobart-based Stephen, 67, competed for Australia as a middleweight boxer at the 1974 Commonwealth Games as a 25-year-old after winning the 1973 Australian title.
He served in Vietnam in 1970 as a gunner.
He began boxing in 1966, but was then called up to serve in the Vietnam War and continued to box shortly after.
Stephen said boxing helped him to rebuild his mind and body after his war service.
“I’ve had a pretty busy life,” he said.
“You can’t buy that sort of experience.”
He began clay target shooting in 1992 and went on to compete at the Australian nationals.

“I find the games very relaxing,” he said.
“I like the comradeship involved, the people you meet and of course the competition.
