Despite 60 years of experience and hundreds of adjudications, the judges at this year’s Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games calisthenics duos competition are still extremely overwhelmed and astonished by the standard of its competitors.
Barbara Nickless, Linley Campbell and Cheryle Ablett are on this year’s panel and grateful to share their love for the sport with an array of passionate and tremendously talented ladies.
The standard of competition surprised them, but the amount of commitment and admiration the teams have demonstrated do not shock them says Ablett.
“You can see there is such a love they have to continue on and on,” Ablett said.
“It was just magic (their performances), they didn’t do all the same wonderful things as when they were younger, but mastered everything they did.”
The professionals also commended the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games for encouraging older ladies to continue with calisthenics despite the issues the sport may present as one ages.
“When they marry and have kids, they never have any competition to go on to,” Campbell said.
“After seniors, that’s about it, so this is wonderful to have.”
“We thought we were looking at 16-year-olds, not 45-year-olds!” Nickless added.
Judging is quite a prominent position, and one must work their way to have the honour says Nickless, whom has over 50 years of experience herself.
“We all have been doing it since we were seven, and then we coached and you get to a standard where you question where you are going to,” Nickless said.
“And we were invited to adjudicate, it’s really quite prestigious.”
Calisthenics concludes tonight at 10pm.
The new scheme was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not important for us.
