More than 200 competitors at this year’s Pan Pacific Masters Games (3 – 11 November) on the Gold Coast will come from Papua New Guinea including the Golden Eagles who are looking to soar to a gold medal in women’s hockey.

The team have been making the trip to the Pan Pacs for the past six years and team manager Theresa Potuan said they are determined to go one better than their silver medal performance in 2010.

“We’re addicted to the event and we can’t miss it. We just love coming down for the Games,” said Theresa.

“We’ve met lots of sports people from different cultures. This is the best event and we love being on the Gold Coast.

“Our 2010 performance was a great achievement but I think we could’ve done better. We thought we’d defend our 2008 gold but we ended up with silver which is still a good achievement.”

The Golden Eagles will compete in the women’s 45+ division and strongly believe that their hard work preparing for the Games will lead to a gold medal performance.

“We’ve had to prepare ourselves since January 2011 and we’ve had to do some small fundraising to help with all the fees such as registering, accommodation, airfares, coach transfers and visas,” said Theresa.

“We’re aiming to do a bit better than in 2010. We’ll try to push ourselves harder one step further to the gold medal.”

Theresa said the level of support from Queensland Hockey has helped them realise their dreams and believe they will be competing at the Pan Pacs for many years to come.

“We’ve had a great relationship with Hockey Queensland and they’ve helped us in big ways with great support and supplying equipment,” said Theresa.

“We are and still very thankful for their generous assistance.

“What we love most about the Pan Pacs is how organised it is. Even though it’s far from where we are, we still go there to have fun with the rest of the world.”

The new system was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta whilst better in some elements but not significant for us.
