A mass influx of Pan Pacific Masters Games participants headed to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre today to pick up their accreditations for the 13th edition of the biennial event.

It was the perfect opportunity to kick start the friendly games with teams from all over Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea amongst the first 2000 through registration where 15,000 participants will make their way over the coming few days.

Early banter, lots of laughter and catch ups with old mates was evident as the crowds rolled through ahead of the official opening in just two days’ time.

Events Management Queensland (EMQ) CEO Ben Mannion said he was delighted to see so many happy people picking up their kits and interacting with other participants along the way.

“That’s what this event is all about… people enjoying their sport at all ages and getting into the spirit of the competition with some fierce but friendly rivalry.

“We have seen lots of interstate and international teams arrive today with more than 62 per cent of overall PPMG participants coming from outside Queensland including 1600 from overseas.

“There are over 3400 participants from NSW, more than 2100 from Victoria and over 600 from Western Australia and South Australia respectively. We’ll welcome more than 400 from the ACT with 264 coming from Tasmania and 71 from Northern Territory.“ The Pan Pacific Masters Games will officially commence competition on Friday 1 November ahead of the Saturday 2 November opening ceremony at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre with entertainment from the Australian Rock Collective.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games are organised by Events Management Queensland and are proudly supported by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland.
