The lead up to Samantha Williams debut in the Pan Pacific Masters Games (PPMG) showjumping has been anything but ideal, however she was happy with a win in her first event on bay thoroughbred Endless Don, aka Donald when he’s cheeky and Don when he’s good.
Motivated by a friend to enter PPMG, Samantha from Queensland’s Greenbank region said the event offered a unique opportunity to compete in master’s showjumping, so she thought why not.
But the training came to an abrupt halt just three weeks ago when Sam’s husband had a stroke.
“I had to suddenly go back to work and help Danny through the ordeal,” she said.
Clearly recovering from an operation on Wednesday last week, a very upbeat Danny Williams said he had to get out of hospital so he could come down and watch.
“I love the competition, and I love the horses… it means a lot to be here.”
A field of more than 30 horses and riders competed in a variety of showjumping disciplines in its debut in the 2024 Pan Pacific Masters Games.
