Australian beach volleyball representative Justine Mowen is aiming to use the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games (JPPMG) as a stepping stone to the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018.
Justine was a part of the Aussie squad at the Rio Olympics earlier this year as a shadow player for the women’s beach volleyball team and hopes to get on the court at the next Commonwealth Games.
When Justine is not playing volleyball, she works as a full-time nurse in Brisbane, however she explained that it is not always easy to juggle beach volleyball and her job.
“It is hard to balance being a full-time nurse and training, especially because volleyball is a non-paid sport,” Justine said.
“I will continue to train and hopefully, my passion and hard work will attract selectors and sponsors so that I can continue to play at a high level.”
This is Justine’s first year at JPPMG competing in the 30+ mixed competition with good friend Shannon Zunker. She stated that the event has an amazing atmosphere, full of fun and competitive people.
“I turned 30 in September making me eligible for the games. I think that’s a good thing,” Justine said.
