Japanese competitors prove they aren’t behind the times after making a splash at the first day of the swimming at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.
Tokyo residents Tsuyoki Fukuda and Ken Takahira have returned to the Games with a posse of past contestants despite the jet-lag of their voyage.
“I met these people at the last games and we’ve all come back together to support each other,” Fukuda said.
“It’s a very high pressure situation.”
After taking out the silver medal in this mornings 400 metre butterfly Fukuda has his eyes set on a bigger prize of winning gold in the 400 metre backstroke title later on in the Games.
“I hope to finish the 400 metre because it is my specialty,” Fukuda said.
“But it’s getting too long for me, training is hard enough but at the competition it’s different because you have people competing on either side of you and I like to win.”
After claiming the record in the 400 metre breaststroke four-years ago, Takahira has his eyes set on a record in his new age division.
“I’m now in the 50-54 age group so I cannot defend it,” Takahira said.
“I have big competition this time around however; there is an Olympian from New Zealand so it won’t be easy.”
Both men however have their minds set on the next Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games with the competition and their Australian holiday drawing to a close.
“I would love to live here one day,” Fukuda said.
“I promise you we will be back in 2016.”
The new system was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not significant for us.
