Walking Netball player Chris Morris has organised a flash mob at the netball courts for the past five Pan Pacific Masters Games.

Inspired by a flash mob in Sydney, and done to Uptown Funk, Chris wanted something to make their own at netball.

And so, getting together and teaching the local teams on a Monday, their first flashmob was over at the Benowa netball courts a decade ago, and the crowd loved it.

Encouraged by the stellar response, Chris has been organising the dance ever since.

Although not as much a flash mob now, the group dance is an opportunity for players from all different teams to join in and have fun.

Chris accompanies each dance independently and then teaches them to her Walking Netball team, the GC Calendar girls.

At the 2022 Games, their dance mob set out to raise funds for women’s mental health, stopping the game being played so everyone could join in on their dance.

“What better way at promoting women’s mental health than by playing sports, releasing all those endorphins and keeping yourself active,” Chris said.

This year’s flash mob will be live streamed on Thursday, the 7th of November, at 1 pm.
