Brisbane-based cricket team, The Filthy Fifths, don’t have a 2012 Pan Pacific Masters Games (3 – 11 November) victory under their belts yet, but they are a colourful team of characters.
Their captain, Antone Sanders or ‘The Colonel’, was labeled by his teammates as “not the sharpest tool in the shed” for arranging team shirts with the misprinted wording ‘Filthy Fiths’.
The Filthy Fifths is a joking reference to the grade of cricket they say they should probably be playing in.
“We’re struggling old champions dealing with too many late nights too early in the week,” said Sanders.
“But the bacon and eggs rolls here are fantastic – best on the coast.”
Batsman Kris Murphy has also earned a nickname, The Rabbit, for juggling the week’s cricket commitments while looking after his nine children.
The team also created an infamous clown hat for the Games, given to anyone guilty of a dropping a catch.
Some of the players have also been travelling back to Brisbane each day for work after their day’s play was finished.
Although the Filthy Fifths don’t have a tournament victory to their name yet, they have matches on Thursday and Friday to get back in the game.
Cricket Super 8s is taking place at the Southport Labrador Cricket Club at Morrie Glasman Oval at Arundel until Friday 9th November from 8:30am – 5:45pm daily.
The new system was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not momentous for us.
