Married couple Lee and Catherine Farrell have travelled all the way from Darwin to compete together in the lawn bowls at this year’s Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games.

65-year-old Lee and his beloved 57-year-old wife Catherine are thrilled to be on the sunny Gold Coast together to play in the world’s biggest and best biennial masters games.

“It’s so great to play bowls, enjoy the company and embrace all the entertainment that the event has to offer,” Lee said.

“Great people, a great event and a great game.

“It’s definitely competitive, but it’s just so enjoyable”

Lee has been an avid lawn bowler for over 25 years however it was just this year that his wife took a more competitive approach to her lawn bowling games.

The Darwin locals not only love what the game has to offer, but also love that it can bring them together as a couple.

“It’s just really great to play together,” Catherine said.

“I’m glad I decided to jump on the masters bandwagon with her,” Lee said.

Both Lee and Catherine strongly believe the masters games are about more than competing, it’s also about meeting new people and soaking up all that the beautiful Gold Coast has to offer.

“We’ve met people we’ve never met before, it’s just a whole different world,” he said.

“Tomorrow night we’re even having a barbeque with one of the other lawn bowling couples.

“The social side is just really great.”

The 10th biennial Jupiter’s Pan Pacific Masters Games are being held 5-13 November 2016 on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

The world’s biggest and best biennial masters games showcase competition in 43 teams and individual sports and attract more than 13,000 participants from Queensland, interstate and overseas.
