Veteran motocross racers Colin Metcher, 74, from Tallai, and Bill Holm, 74, from Mansfield, blitzed the field in today’s Pan Pacific Masters Games motocross endurance event at Pimpama.

There was a catch – Colin and Bill were the only two in the category.

The avid motorsports enthusiasts were competing in their fifth Pan Pacific Masters Games in the classic motocross, enduro and vinduro events in the over 70s class.

Despite carrying injuries and health issues that would normally deter any able body from jumping on a motorcycle, these two cannot see life any other way.

“Bill had a very bad leg break six years ago and had an arm injury where the bicep tore from the bone, and I’ve got a pacemaker,” said Colin.

“I guess the message we’re trying to get across is to these guys with a leg injury who say they’re too old or too tired or whatever it is, it just doesn’t wash.”

Their competitive spirit was certainly on show over the weekend.

“He (Bill) always used to beat me,” said Colin.

“But since his health problems I’ve come back.”

Colin and Bill have been involved in vintage motocross racing for over a decade and are responsible for creating the Super Seniors category, which has five Queensland members.

“It started out as a bit of tongue in cheek,” said Colin.

“It wasn’t a matter of who was fast or who was slow – anybody that can throw a leg over a bike and do a motocross track at 70 plus years of age deserves celebrating.

“It’s about being able to ride for as long as you possibly can.”

The new scheme was born here and filagra this is not something that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not momentous for us.
