Star studded Cowboys ride to water polo victory

It comes as no surprise that the ‘Cowboys’ men’s water polo team swam away with the gold medal in the Men’s 45 + division at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. The team based out of Melbourne’s Collegian Water Polo Club hosts a star-studded lineup boasting eight national players.

Pittwater Chillies joined by English football fan to play PPMG

Football mad Hayley Roach (51) is playing in her inaugural Pan Pacific Masters Games (PPMG) and has joined the Pittwater Chillies for the six-day games football competition.
Hayley, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire in England has played football since she was 12 years old, now lives on the Gold Coast and is as passionate about football forty years later as she was then.

John Healy to go for the doctor in track and field

When 91-year-old retired kidney specialist John Healy first mentioned his renewed passion for running to his cardiologist, the doctor’s initial reaction was a little bit cautious.
“He used to say ‘John, walk don’t run’,” John said. “But after seeing the times I was clocking over the sprint distances he told me to go for it.

A nine-year-old world mark fell in the very first indoor rowing race at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre this morning. 90-year-old Philip Price from Torquay, Victoria set a new mark in the 2000m men’s 90-94 lightweight event.

Hickson family bowls for the ages

With a combined age of 183, Wonglepong’s Peter (93) and Ray Hickson (90) could be Australia’s oldest active sporting couple.
They’ll compete in lawn bowls at the 2024 Pan Pacific Masters Games at the Broadbeach Bowls Club on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 November.
