6,000 revellers opened the 2018 Pan Pacific Masters Games at the Games Village at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre last night.

City of Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Cr Donna Gates officially opened the 2018 Pan Pacific Masters Games last night after a 6,000 strong audience counted her in at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Cr Gates declared open the 10-day celebration of masters sport to the biggest ever opening ceremony reception before the arena pulsated to the beat of the Killer Queen Experience.
To the tune of ‘We will rock you’, participants celebrated the opening of the games in style with many dressed in fancy dress and team colours in a show of the camaraderie for which the event is renowned.
Killer Queen Experience rocked the opening party at the Games Village last night.
The 16,000 participants congregating at this year’s games to take part in 42 sports hail from over 40 countries around the world, including all parts of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and the USA.
Among the athletes are Olympic gold medalists, those who never played higher than D grade and many somewhere in between.

Also in attendance at last night’s opening were event ambassadors Benita Willis, Glynis Nunn-Cearns, Pat Carroll and Robbie McEwen, who in a few days will be joined by Andrew ‘Reidy’ Reid, in both participating and spectating at the 45 venues during the event.
The 11th biennial Pan Pacific Masters Games is being held 2 – 11 November 2018 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
