Padel serves up new energy for this year’s Pan Pacific Masters Games
The Pan Pacific Masters Games is fast approaching with entries for many sports closing soon, including padel one of the fastest growing sports and an exciting new addition to this year’s schedule.
Events Management Queensland (EMQ) CEO Ben Mannion stepped outside his comfort zone to try his hand at padel, experiencing firsthand the fast-paced social nature of the sport as it debuts in the games.
Under the watchful eye of national padel coach, Tony Pi, Mr Mannion took to the court for his first ever hit, noting how active and fast paced the sport is with the ball constantly in play.
“The balls bouncing off the walls, it’s a bit like squash and a bit of tennis…. and it’s fun.
“It’s not as hard on the body as some other sports, and it’s one of those rising social sports that so many people are enjoying.”
More than 16,000 participants from all over the world will descend on the Gold Coast from 6-15 November with 41 sports on offer being contested across 40 of the city’s world-class sporting venues.
Entries for many sports remain open with the event’s Sports Bulletin Board still listing multiple opportunities for eager participants to join a team.
