The 2024 Pan Pacific Masters Games has beaten five other major Gold Coast events including one from its own stable to take out the 2024 Gold Coast Sporting Event of the Year award.
Events Management Queensland CEO, Ben Mannion said they were delighted that both their Gold Coast events, the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon and the Pan Pacific Masters Games were selected as finalists for the 2024 Sporting Event of the Year.
“We were even more thrilled when the biennial Pan Pacific Masters Games took out the award following a spectacular event in 2024 that saw more than 15,000 participants from all over the world descend onto the Gold Coast.
“The competition is always fierce but friendly and the celebration and camaraderie of participation that follows is a testament to the spirit and passion of the masters sporting community.”
Mr Mannion said the inclusion of a Gold Coast Sporting Event of the Year was a welcome addition to the gala awards night with so many world-class sporting events delivered in the city.
“This is a great incentive to try that bit harder to shine our events and make sure they remain relevant, professional and above all provide participants with an outstanding experience.
“I am extremely proud of the team at EMQ who are passionate about what they do and how they do it.
“They are skilled individuals who work tirelessly as a team to deliver some of Queensland and Australia’s largest community participation events.
“We will take a moment to celebrate our achievement with a nice morning tea but then its onwards and upwards with the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon just two months away and a largely ‘sold out’ ASICS Gold Coast Marathon to deliver in July.”
The Pan Pacific Masters Games will return to the Gold Coast from 6-15 November 2026.
The event is organised by Events Management Queensland and are proudly supported by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland.
