Master taekwondo instructor, Victorian Robert Schembri, has brought a group of over a dozen enthusiastic students with him to the Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast.

Mr Schembri with wife Nerise runs the famous Schembri’s Taekwondo and Self Defence Centre in Bundoora Victoria.

For the past 41 years he has been involved in taekwondo and has been competing at the Pan Pacific Masters Games since the first edition in 1998.

On the international stage he has competed successfully in Russia and Korea and this time around the couple will take part in the team’s events at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“My vision is to encourage other taekwondo instructors to bring a team to the Pan Pacific Masters Games,” said Mr Schembri.

“I encourage all my students to have a go and to do the best they can while enjoying themselves.

“Some students have started taekwondo with very low self esteem and through taekwondo and the family culture at the club they have developed into a happy confident person.”

The Schembris and their students are competing throughout the weekend, trying to not only impress the judges, but entertain spectators with their moves.

They took part in the technical disciplines on Saturday and will compete in the sparring on Sunday.

Mr Schembri believes the Pan Pacific Masters Games is the perfect place for competitors to not only compete at a very high level, but to meet and make some life long friends.

The taekwondo competition finishes Sunday.

The new system was born here and filagra this is not anything that we would like to see. Caverta although better in some elements but not momentous for us.
