Riffraff FC Adelaide proved to be fierce competition for the Sunshine Coast Oldies today at the Nerang Soccer Club, climaxing in an equaliser.

Riffraff FC is playing in the 50-years and over men’s division at the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games (JPPMG), ending their first game with a 1-1 score.

Although many of the Riffraff FC squad originate from Adelaide, a few players are of international origins from countries including Greece, Ireland and New Zealand.

Riffraff FC player, Colin Robertson from Forest Lake, QLD said he had been competing at the JPPMG since the games first started in 1998.

Another player for Riffraff, Frank Picchianti, from Golden Grove, SA, said he had played for the Adelaide Croatia Raiders Soccer Club before competing at the masters games.

Team manager, Steve Parker from Hillbank, SA, said the team originally formed 25 years ago, with this year being their third time together at the JPPMG.

Steve said the team is happy to be back at the games as the team enjoys playing in this event.

“We keep coming back to the games because they are always good,” Steve said.

Riffraff FC Adelaide will compete in another eight games this week with a squad aged between 50-68-years old.

Sunshine Coast Oldies player, Michael Gray from Witta, QLD, said he was enjoying taking time out of his day-to-day life with the boys to enjoy the soccer.

The 10th biennial Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games is being held 5 – 13 November 2016 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

The event showcases competition in 43 sports and is hosting 13,000 participants from Queensland, interstate and overseas.
