Friday 17 October

Melbourne Ska Orchestra will draw the curtain on the ninth Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games with an unmissable live show that is set to go down as one of the biggest parties in the event’s history on Saturday 8 November.

The 25-plus piece ensemble, which includes some of Australia’s preeminent names in ska and reggae including inimitable frontman Nicky Bomba (Bomba, Bustamento, John Butler Trio), will headline the closing ceremony in front of thousands of masters-aged participants at the Games Village in the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The band are fast becoming a fixture on Australia’s musical landscape with their entertaining, vibrant and surprising live shows and recently returned home after a blistering United Kingdom and Canadian tour where they wowed audiences at some of the world’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury and Montreal Jazz Festival.

After more than a decade of sold-out shows and electrifying festival appearances, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra have been nominated for Best Australian Live Act in this year’s ARIA Awards, cementing their position as one of the country’s favourite live acts.

Their performance will include songs from their self-titled and ARIA nominated album released last year which demonstrates a uniquely Australian vision of the exuberances and freewheeling colour of contemporary ska.

Joining the Melbourne Ska Orchestra on the entertainment program will be celebrated Gold Coast house band Magic Carpet Ride who will return to the Games Village stage after blowing away the audience night after night in 2012.

Fronted by former Australian Idol finalist Stu Campbell and Kate White, the band will take patrons through the last fifty years of party, classic rock and 80s anthems over six nights including a special ‘Aussie Rock’ show on Monday 3 November.

The Round Mountain Girls, who have impressed thousands at festivals including Byron Bay Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival and the Gympie Muster, will bring a set of blistering and infectious Celt-country blend of roots music to the Gold Coast on Tuesday 4 November.

They will be joined by Late for Woodstock who will capture the legacy and essence of the 60s and 70s by bringing the classic sounds and sentiments of one of the most creative eras in rock music with covers from acts such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

On Thursday (6 November), a monster P!nk and Lady Gaga tribute show celebrating two of the most influential female artists of our time, will descend on the Games Village for an evening of hit songs, amazing vocals, gorgeous costumes and sensational dance choreography.

While on Friday 6 November, the unmistakable moves of Mick Jagger and irresistible guitar licks of Keith Richards will come to life when The Rolling Stones Experience recreate one of the world’s most loved rock and roll bands with authenticity, professionalism and experience with hits including ‘Satisfaction’, ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll’ and ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’.

Young Gold Coast four-piece, The Mods, have quickly established themselves as an impressive live act who combine the sounds of the 60s and 70s faithfully with their striking renditions of songs by The Beatles, The Doors and The Hollies and will perform on Wednesday 5 and Saturday 8 November.

Resident Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games DJ Tallie will be spinning tunes every night and is sure to deliver an unforgettable energetic experience with tracks spanning the classics to the hits of today.

The first line-up announcement included founding member of Cold Chisel, Ian Moss, Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men), Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera), Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen) and Ally Fowler (The Chantoozies).
